Super STRYDZ shine at SuperSports
It was a successful morning in Nad Al Sheba. The sun was shining albeit a bit too hot but still pleasant nevertheless. First up was Saif in the 10km. Saif achieved a personal best time of 49:34. A sub 50 time in the 10km sets him up nicely for the next 6 weeks as Saif has entered the Wadi Rum Full Moon Desert Marathon in Jordan.
In the 5km, Toufic continued his consistent sub 20minute form with a 19:58 gun-time and a second place age category. Meanwhile, daughter Mia who has been in fine form, came second overall in the 3km in a new personal best time of 12.26min. But it was STRYDZ athlete Nina Allmark who took the first position in 11:52. Nina kept a consistent pace over the 3km distance and will now prepare for a series of track races coming up over the next few weeks. Also shoutout to Kahli Johnson who came in third, wife of Mark Johnson who supports STRYDZ with sports tissue therapy appointments.
In the men’s 3km race, Matthew Payne, set a fast opening 800m to lead the 3km starters through the first 1 km. He was chased down by the eventual winner Joseph Njeri and at the halfway mark only 3 seconds separated them. However, Matthew entered the pain cave too early, making the final 1km a mental and physical battle. Finishing in 3rd position, there were a lot of positives to take (as well as useful lessons) which will bode well in the track races in the next few weeks.
