STRYDZ feature at Doha HYROX
Last week hundreds of Hyrox athletes flew across the Arabian Gulf to compete in the Doha Hyrox Competition, and some STRYDZ runners had lots to celebrate.
In the Open Men’s Category, Ahmed Hajjo had a brilliant performance to finish in third place overall (2nd Age Cat) whilst in the Pro category, Ruari also had a brilliant outing to finish in 1st place for his age group title. Both will now travel to France, where they will compete in the HYROX World Championships in 3 weeks time. In the Mixed Pairs, there was a big achievement for Ali and Frances who sliced a huge 6min off their Dubai Hyrox time and finished 16th overall (14th Age Cat)
Ultimate Racenight Round UP
In the Mens 800m, Kuvar put in an excellent performance to test out his speed and endurance. In the 800m, Kuvar went through the bell in 56seconds and was still on for a PB at 600m but faded slightly to cross the line in 1;57.3 but a good solid indication of whats to come in a few weeks time. 45min later through, he was back on the track in the 4x400m relay and ran an unofficial 51-52second 400m third leg split. Also shoutout to Farhan who was just outside of his personal best running 2.17.88 and finished just outside the medals in 4th position.
In the women’s 800m event, a slow first lap of 72-73 meant that it was going to be a tactical race to the finish line. Down the back straight, everyone was waiting to time their final kick to the finish and it was U17 runner. Nina who crossed the line in 2.23 to take the overall win. Tilly and Juliet secured 2nd and 3rd age cat positions whilst Hattie achieved a 2 second personal best in the same race crossing the line in 2.33.
In the 2000m, shout out to Talis who doesn’t quite enjoy running on the track but nevertheless ran in the U17 claiming first position.
The following week, saw young Mia run the U11 1500m at the Junior Ultimate Race Night. Mia set a strong pace from the start and quickly established an early lead. She finished 50m ahead of second and crossed the line in a new 5 second PB of 5.49. Nina was also back in action experimenting with the 1500m. In her second ever 1500m race, Nina crossed the line in 5.07 to finish second and will take away some good key points from this experience.
