Tarno Runs Huge PB in Paris
Sub 3 hours was the goal for UK based Josh Tarn wanting to better 3hours 06 which he set in London in 2022. However, deep into the marathon block, it was clear that this was a soft goal and so the bar was raised to sub 2:55.
The journey to Paris was hugely successful. Why? Consistent blocks, week after week after week. Yes the UK weather was miserable (most of the time) but that didnt matter as the aerobic engine was being built day after day. Along the 20 week block, personal bests were set at 10km and the half marathon. Key indicators that adaptations were setting in well.
The profile of Paris, suggests it is not a flat course but with 50,000 runners, you are always going to get pulled round. The plan was to set off at 4.08 for the first 10km then settle in for the next 22 kilometers. Josh went through the half way stage in around 1hr 26 and closed the last 5km in around 19:34 min! Josh’s time of 2hr 53.37 (4.04 /km average) was 13min faster than his previous and now he can relax, rest and wait for his wingman Phil Yates to compete in The Vienna Marathon in 2 weeks time in addition to those running in the London Marathon.
